Monk Takes a Job as a Substitute Teacher
To Determine If He's Ready to Return to the Force
Former detective Adrian Monk has taken a job as a substitute teacher at the high school where his late wife Trudy was a student.
The move comes as Monk is trying to determine if he is ready to return to the San Francisco Police Department, where he was a homicide detective before Trudy's murder.
In his new role, Monk will be teaching English classes at Trudy's alma mater, Barclay High School.
Monk's former colleague, Captain Leland Stottlemeyer, said he is not surprised by Monk's decision to return to teaching.
"Adrian has always been a great teacher," Stottlemeyer said. "He has a knack for explaining things clearly and concisely, and he has a lot of patience."
Stottlemeyer said he believes Monk will be a valuable asset to the Barclay High School community.
"He's a great role model for students," Stottlemeyer said. "He's someone who has overcome a lot of adversity, and he's always willing to help others."
